Why should you choose Target 9 Maths?
To understand why Target 9 Maths may be the right course for you, you first have to understand the story behind how it came about… It began when I retrained as a teacher (I also have a computing degree), and after qualifying I had the great fortune for my first teaching job of being put in charge of running the math’s provision at a small school for children with high-functioning autism and other special educational needs. The students usually arrived in year 10, many having last attended school in year 7, so had chasms in their knowledge more than gaps.

And I had the equivalent of just one year of teaching time (compared to a mainstream school) in which to cover all five years of content from year 7 through to year 11. My advantage, however, was that, having not entered mainstream education, I avoided being indoctrinated in the standard, ineffective ways of teaching (roughly 3 in every 10 students fail each year: a rate no normal business would accept, or survive).

This left me able to innovate and develop unique approaches to maximise learning in the shortest possible timeframe, and so differ greatly from the norm. And I did so incredibly successfully, as my students had a 100% GCSE pass rate, with the majority getting 90% or more of the marks in their exams – and the school going on to win multiple awards.

After many years of success, I decided to experience other teaching environments, teaching in mainstream education, for the UK’s largest online school, for a maths charity, and also privately tutoring.

With all of this behind me, I then revised and improved my already successful teaching approach, taking into account the unique strengths of online learning and its potential pitfalls, and designed Target 9 Maths – with the aim of creating the best GCSE maths course in the UK for home-educated students.

Target 9 Maths is suitable for any GCSE, or GCSE equivalent qualification (i.e. the National 5 in Scotland).

It is also suitable for any exam board, as maths does not change and all topics are covered, regardless of whether you are in England with AQA, OCR, or Edexcel; in Wales with WJEC; in Northern Ireland with CCEA; or in Scotland with Qualifications Scotland; or sitting it under a different exam board.
